Role and Responsibilities
Should have a full understanding of services, processes, systems and procedures of design and print. Should demonstrate aptitude with regard to adoption of new technology and process
Ability to discuss creative portfolio that demonstrates a capacity to solve problems conceptually. Should also be able to talk through work confidently
Excellent working-knowledge of the Mac/PC and software, principally InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat and QuarkXpress.
Strong typographic and layout skills and attention to detail
Good knowledge and experience of different media applications, i.e. print, web and multimedia
Knowledge of website design and video editing tools is a plus
Significant experience as a Creative Designer in a design studio
Ability to take briefs from clients and refine, challenge and develop appropriately
Create innovative conceptual design solutions to a high visual and strategic standard ready for presentation to the client
Ensure that all Corporate Brand guidelines are adhered to and client-expectation is achieved
Play a key role in scoping, estimating and scheduling projects. On approval, undertake the work or provide sufficient orientation to other designers to undertake the work, where appropriate
Take ownership and follow procedures to ensure that creative work may be continued or completed by another team member
Able to work independently and form part of a team
Ability to communicate and discuss concepts, treatments and solutions verbally
Demonstrate ability to deliver appropriate information/messages in an innovative and creative manner Understand and show ability to liaise with third party suppliers and gain estimates for print work as and when required
Project and Time Management
Will be responsible for achieving design tasks to an agreed timeframe and must be able to manage and priorities several projects on a daily basis. Must be able to delegate and effectively manage work through others where necessary.
Must be able to make logical decisions, considering all relevant information and consider the broader implications of proposed actions.
Must speak clearly and concisely, ensuring all important information is communicated. Should ask relevant questions to ensure understanding. Must be sensitive to the clients needs, remaining calm and confident, even in difficult situations. When required, should produce clear and well-structured written communications.
To provide a high standard of creative thinking and own and deliver a variety of design based projects from brief through to completion.
As one of the most experienced and skilled members of the design team they will be able to advise clients on the best and most appropriate solutions to their visual communication needs and then create, design and implement these solutions to client satisfaction
Ensure that the Studio Manager and Art Director are fully informed about developments in projects at all stages, and are advised of any additional time in advance of initiating new tasks
Take ownership and manage their own time and that of others (where appropriate) to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget this includes ensuring timesheets are up-to-date
Should consistently provide, innovative and creative ideas, putting forward imaginative alternatives and questioning conventional approaches. The creative thought-process should be followed through from brief to concept to solution, considering the aesthetic look and feel of a task and showing the ability to provide appropriate and sometimes alternative solutions. Should be able to demonstrate an ability to solve business challenges, produce ideas with depth and good reasoning, and confidently offer creative advice/solutions to the client.
Must demonstrate a client-focused approach to providing a service, through personal commitment to the client and their business. Should demonstrate good people skills, as well as being able to negotiate effectively and communicate at all levels.
Will work with energy and enthusiasm, taking responsibility and ownership of projects. As a senior member of a design studio they should seek to positively influence junior members by demonstrating good practice.
Must take responsibility for own development. Should seek out and act upon feedback concerning own performance. Should be willing to share knowledge and experience with others.
Should demonstrate a concern for quality of results, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Must check work carefully and ensure it is delivered right first time.
Must plan and schedule activities to ensure best use of own time and resources. Should take a logical and systematic approach to work, monitoring progress on tasks and reprioritising them to take account of changing circumstances. Must have ability to track several projects at once and monitor their progress within the studio.
Will work in partnership with colleagues to achieve common goals. Should be willing to offer help and assistance to others while understanding their needs which will in turn contribute to a positive team
Client focused and a positive attitude coupled with good people skills. Able to negotiate effectively and communicate on all levels
