Responsibilities Handled by Occupational Health Physician:
Manage the Accidents and Medical emergencies in OHC and advocate appropriate Lifesaving treatment and if required referral to higher centre for further management
Perform minor surgical procedure.
Diagnosing the disease based on symptoms and signs, provide counselling and education on preventive measures and give appropriate treatment in out-patient department.
Collaborate with safety manager and industrial hygienist in identification, prevention and control of occupational risk
Identifying hazards and quantify health risks at workplace and Implement controls for health risks at work and Confirm the adequacy of controls through health surveillance
Select and place workers according to health criteria for Particular jobs and Ensure fitness for workers
Provide guidance in terms of health risk and possible preventive measures in developing new work process design or implanting a new chemical agent in the process.
Comply with statutory requirements and responsibilities as per The Indian Factories Act of 1948.Worker?s Compensation Act of 1923, The Employees State Insurance act 1948 to reduce legal liability
Pre-Employment and Pre-Placement medical examination
Period Medical examination
Analyze abnormal trends and patterns in the Workforce to Guide for Prevention Efforts and Specific protection.
Analyze workplace monitoring data for above PEL limits as per statutory requirements and take necessary measure along EHS committee in case of above the PEL level
Conduct regular health talk session to create awareness and to bring behavioural changes towards occupational health and safety.
Training other Medical and Nursing staff in performing their duties
